Michael Reagan to WH: 'Quit Bitching and Start Leading'

Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Now"

The White House "is out of control," and President Donald Trump must quit complaining "and start leading," the son of former President Ronald Reagan told Newsmax TV on Monday.

In an interview with "Newsmax Now" host Bill Tucker, political commentator Michael Reagan, author of "Lessons My Father Taught Me," said the house-cleaning ought to start with chief of staff Reince Priebus.

"If I was Reince Priebus, I would fall on the sword and take the blame," he said. "Somebody has to accept responsibility for the way this White House is being run. . . . They need a James Baker type person in the White House Donald Trump respects. I don't think he has any respect for those people who are serving him. He thinks of them as his gardeners, not as equals.

"They ought to just lock the door and have a 'Come to Jesus' meeting at the White House and who is in fact is going to be running things in the White House from this point forward," he added.

Reagan decried the "antics" that are distracting from the policies President Donald Trump is trying to put in place.

"The White House is out of control," he added. "And you have businessmen like Don Jr. and the rest of them who are used to running a business and doing things business-wise — and I think they're finding out there's a big difference between 'The Art of the Deal' and the art of running the government."

Trump is no more a "victim" than any president, including Ronald Reagan, he said.

"You can't play the victim card — welcome to politics," Reagan said. "Welcome to being president of the United States of America. . . . George W. Bush got blamed not only during his eight years of the presidency, he got blamed for the eight years of Obama's presidency for everything known to mankind that went wrong.

"You got to just stand up and take it and move forward, if not always be a reactionary to what the media's saying."

"My dad took it from both sides," Reagan added. "It's about leadership. Quit bitching and start leading."
