Academy Award-winning actress Jodi Foster and her girlfriend of about a year, photographer Alexandra Hedison (Ellen DeGeneres' ex-flame), were quietly married this past weekend, a representative of the actress told
E! News.
Foster, who has been protective of her privacy in the past, continued along those lines, releasing little more than the acknowledgement that she is married to Hedison, who dated DeGeneres for about three years before her relationship with Foster, wrote E! News.
"Leave it to Jodie Foster to go and get married and not make a big deal out of it,"
reported celebrity website TMZ.com, saying a source confirmed the marriage to them as well. "Fact is ... it's pretty clear (Foster has) never felt a need or obligation to make a public declaration, and by getting married she's merely living her life and not screaming from the rafters."

Many consider Foster's 2013 Golden Globe speech as her announcement that she's gay,
according to the Washington Post.
"I hope that you're not disappointed that there won't be a big coming out speech tonight because I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago back in the stone age, those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family and co-workers and then gradually, proudly, to everyone who knew her, to everyone she actually met," she said in that speech.
Foster had received the Golden Globes' Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award when she made the comments during her acceptance speech.
Rumors began circulating about their relationship last summer when Foster and Hedison were spotted together by photographers at a technology seminar at Fox Studios in Los Angeles and at dinner with friends days later.
"It's pretty serious," E! News said a source told them last September. "They're totally in love."
Foster broke up with ex-partner Cydney Bernard in 2008 after a 20-year relationship, reported E! News. They were co-parents to sons Charles and Kit at the time.
Hedison has had her photography work appear in New York and Los Angeles. She had a handful of acting credits as well, most prominently playing Dylan Moreland on the Showtime series "The L Word," for three seasons.
