A Republican lawmaker used a bit of profanity while praising President Donald Trump during a recent meeting.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., spoke last Friday at a meeting of the Riverside County Young Republicans at a sports bar in Murrieta, California, and had this to say about the commander-in-chief:

"He's just like he is on TV," Hunter said. "He's an a–hole, but he's our a–hole."

The Tribune cited four people who were at the meeting, all of whom verified Hunter made the remark.

Jose Guzman was present at the meeting and told the Tribune that Hunter "put his hand near his mouth like when you are going to whisper something.

"And he goes, 'By the way, all the stories you hear about him, they're true. Except the fake news.'"

Hunter and Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., were the first two members of Congress to throw their support behind Trump during his campaign. Hunter announced his endorsement after Trump won the Nevada Caucuses in February 2016.
