Hollywood filmmaker Michael Moore, famously liberal, laments the Constitution restricts those under the age of 35 to run for president, because Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., 29, is the "leader" of the Democratic Party and "everybody knows it."
"It's too bad that you have to be 35 to be president," Moore told MSNBC on Friday night. "We put that in the Constitution, the founding fathers, because people died at 38 or 40 back then. We need to lower that.
"If that was lowered to 30 . . . [AOC] could be running."
While the logic of Moore's Constitutional age argument is debatably backward, he is convinced AOC has taking the reins of the liberal "mass movement" of the Democratic Party.
"She is the leader," Moore said. "Everybody knows it. Everybody feels it.
"She's the leader of this mass movement."
Moore, who has made documentaries attacking Republican leadership, added a call to end political compromise.
"If you're moderate, stop being moderate – take a position," he said. "There's no middle ground anymore. There's no halfway point to should somebody be paid a living wage. 'Well, I'm a moderate, so I think they could be paid half of a living wage.'
"You know, on the issue of choice, there is no halfway there. You're either for it or you're against it. Do you believe in equal rights for women? Do you believe we should have an Equal Rights Amendment? Yes or no? There's no middle ground. There's no time for moderation."
