Cavuto to Trump: Drop 'Unseemly' Fight' With McConnell

Fox News' "Your World"

Fox News host Neil Cavuto on Wednesday urged President Donald Trump to drop his "unseemly fight" with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., — and stop "kicking the guys on your side in the ass."

In a commentary at the end of his show, "Your World" with Neil Cavuto, the host argued McConnell is on Trump's side, and "made possible your biggest achievement," referring to the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.

"It's especially not good for you, sir," he added. "And dragging out this unseemly fight in public is going to come back to haunt you."

"You might not like how Washington works," Cavuto said. "This is the only Washington you've got. I know your base loves the fight, but they won't like the result. Pointing the finger at your team only invites them to point a very different finger back at you. Who would have your back if you are kicking the guys on your side in the ass?"

Reports have surfaced Trump and McConnell have not spoken in weeks, and McConnell has said he is now uncertain whether or not Trump can rebound from a string of controversies.

"Loyalty works both ways, Mr. President," Cavuto said. "You are the quarterback, appreciate the team. Go ahead and rip their institution, many have, but they're the only institution you've got. And you're running out of friends. Don't threaten them, work with them."
