Limbaugh: No Bannon, But at Least 'Stephen Miller Is Still There'

Limbaugh: No Bannon, But at Least 'Stephen Miller Is Still There'

By    |   Friday, 18 August 2017 06:39 PM EDT

For those lamenting Friday's departure of White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh sees the continuing presence of policy adviser Stephen Miller and Vice President Mike Pence as silver linings.

"Well, of course, Mike Pence is still there — he's the vice president," Limbaugh said on Friday's radio show, according to audio posted by The Daily Caller. "Stephen Miller is still there, and Stephen Miller is a gem."

"Stephen Miller is doing a great job, don't doubt me."

Miller was the White House adviser who engaged in a contentious exchange with CNN's Jim Acosta, who has been a frequent target of President Donald Trump's "fake news" exclamations.

Deputy assistant to the president, Sebastian Gorka — facing his own "extreme uncertainty" after Bannon's ouster — said Miller's "fake news" media exchange led to White House staff "high-fiving with Stephen afterwards."

Bannon, amid anonymously sourced reports he might "go nuclear" on the Trump administration as an outsider, told Bloomberg News he will actually be "going to war for Trump" now outside the White House inner circle.

"If there's any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I'm leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America," Bannon reportedly told Bloomberg.
