President Donald Trump's planned visit Tuesday with Senate Republicans is only a "photo opp," Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., told NBC News.
Trump is set to attend a weekly policy lunch on Capitol Hill at 1 p.m. ET where GOP senators are expected to cover the fall agenda, which includes the GOP's efforts to pass tax reform. The president has been pushing lawmakers to speed up the process.
Trump and Corker have been feuding publicly for nearly two weeks. The president laid into the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee for begging him to endorse him for re-election in 2018, and tweeted: "I said 'NO' and he dropped out [said he could not win without my endorsement]. He also wanted to be Secretary of State, I said 'NO THANKS.' He is also largely responsible for the horrendous Iran Deal!"
Corker hit back, tweeting, "It's a shame the White House has become an adult daycare center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning."
He then told the Times he thought Trump's recklessness threatened World War III and said he was distressed about having a president who acts "like he's doing 'The Apprentice' or something" and treating the White House like a "reality show."
