Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., on Monday offered his prayers to the victims of the mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, the same day he spoke of his own shooting on "60 Minutes."

Later that day, Scalise called for "people across America to stand together in solidarity, and to support the Las Vegas community and all of those affected, especially by giving blood and encouraging others to do the same," in a statement, according to The Hill.

"In the face of unspeakable evil, our whole nation must respond with countless acts of kindness, warmth and generosity."

The House Minority Whip was badly wounded in June after a gunman opened fire on a group of Republicans during practice for their congressional baseball team.

"The first thing that came to mind, I prayed to God: 'Please, don't make my daughter have to walk up the aisle alone,'" Scalise recalled in the interview. "And obviously, after that, I prayed that I could see my family again."
