White House chief of staff John Kelly is restricting the amount of conservative news President Donald Trump sees, as well as who he sees, The Hill reported Saturday.
Kelly is able to monitor daily news reports the president sees because Trump does not have an Internet browser on his phone and does not use a computer, according to a report Friday in The New York Times.
The policy has led to friction, the Times reported, as Trump has groused about not seeing publications like Breitbart and The Daily Caller.
"He's having a very hard time," a Trump friend told The Washington Post. "He doesn't like the way the media's handling him. He doesn't like how Kelly's handling him. He's turning on people that are very close to him."
However, on Friday, Trump appeared to negate the claim, tweeting, "General John Kelly is doing a great job as Chief of Staff. I could not be happier or more impressed — and this administration continues to get things done at a record clip. Many big decisions to be made over the coming days and weeks. AMERICA FIRST!"
