Amazon is hiring for 50,000 job positions available in what the company is calling its "biggest hiring event of the year."
The e-commerce corporation will hold a massive job fair at its various U.S based sites on Aug. 2 and is referring to the event as "Amazon Jobs Day."
In a statement, Amazon announced it would open its doors "for one day only for tours and information sessions and making thousands of on-the-spot job offers to qualified candidates."
Tours of Amazon’s fulfillment centers will be held across 12 locations, including Massachusetts, New York, Tennessee, Illinois, Kentucky, Washington, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and New Jersey.
The company said it would be hiring for full-time and part-time positions.
"Full-time positions include medical benefits starting on day one and tuition pre-payment for high demand careers," Amazon said on its website. "Part-time positions include medical benefits that begin after 90 days and tuition pre-payment."
Earlier this year Amazon revealed its intention to expand its U.S. workforce.
According to CNN, the company aimed to add over 100,000 full-time jobs, most of which would be in warehouses or entail answering phones.
Additionally, CNN noted that Amazon would hire "more than 30,000 part-time workers over the next year for mostly warehouse roles."
Commenting on the hiring spree, chief economist at job site Glassdoor, Andrew Chamberlain, told The Associated Press that same-day job offers were unusual.
He cited the company’s rapid growth, combined with a shortage of workers, as reasons why Amazon was readily hiring new employees.
"There are just not as many available bodies," Chamberlain said.
"It can be a real challenge to hire."
