The New Jersey house where Bruce Springsteen reportedly wrote "Born to Run," the album that launched the rocker to stardom, is for sale.

The owners of the house in Long Branch, three Springsteen fans, are asking $280,000 if the purchasers want to turn the home into a museum or something akin to it. The owners bought the home in 2009, reported the Asbury Park Press.

In August, "Born to Run" celebrated the 40th anniversary of its release as one of the most highly acclaimed albums in Rock n' Roll history, according to Alyssa Montemurro of Hollywood Life.com. The album remains one of Springsteen's best sellers, noted the website.

"Now is your chance to own a little piece of New Jersey Rock and Roll History," read the listing on Gloria Nilson & Co.'s real state website. "7 1/2 West End Court is a cottage located in the West End section of Long Branch where Bruce Springsteen lived 1974-1975 and wrote 'Born to Run,' the album that catapulted him to music greatness."

Jerry Ferrara told NJ Advance Media that he, his sister Kim McDermott and his friend Ryan DeCarolis first bought the home to possibly keep it from being demolished but now realize it was not feasible to keep holding onto it.

"We probably paid more than it was worth when we bought it because of what we call 'the Bruce factor,'" said Ferrara. "We still think it's worth it."

Ferrara said he believes the home is one of the best slices of Springsteen memorabilia around.

"We'd been to a couple of auctions where people paid a ridiculous amount of money for a (Springsteen) signed guitar," said Ferrara. "To me, the house is better than that stuff. It's the place where he wrote 'Born to Run.'"
