Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis made a successful modeling debut Thursday on a New York catwalk during Fashion Week, wearing a beautiful red dress as part of the Go Red for Women festivities.
De Laurentiis wore a Caroline Herrera dress for the Go Red event, which helps to bring attention to women and heart disease.

Before finding herself under the bright catwalk lights, De Laurentiis said that she learned a lot preparing to model.
“I’m super excited; I've never done this before. I used to think being a model and walking the runway was an easy job, but I have changed my mind. I have so much respect for those women because it's a tough job!”
De Laurentiis told E! Online.
The celebrity chef practiced a lot before Thursday’s event, but told E! “I’ve sort of not asked anybody (for help). I kind of want it to be my own experience.”
Other stars were in New York on the catwalk, too, participating in the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Fashion Show. Lindsey Vonn made the walk on crutches. Also modeling red dresses were Joan Jett, NeNe Leakes, Bella Thorne, AnnaSophia Robb and others.
Jett told Yahoo News that the event was important to her because heart disease caused her mother’s death. “You got no heart, you got no life, so I think it's important for women to recognize that," Jett said.
Go Red for Women is an educational effort designed to bring attention to the seriousness of heart disease and help women become aware of how they can fight the disease. One in three women die from heart disease, the organization’s promotional video, “The Common Thread,” said.
