Ivanka Trump wants her child-care plan that could cost up to $500 billion in benefits and paid maternity leave for working women included in the  tax overhaul that’s currently being sorted out by her father and lawmakers.

She met with members of the House and Senate last week to discuss her proposed plan, according to Bloomberg. Though she doesn't have a formal position in the White House, she’s acting as an economic adviser to her father.

President Donald Trump has said he plans to propose a “comprehensive tax overhaul,” even though he gave no insight into what that proposal would entail.

“Ivanka is really pushing that none of it gets passed unless it includes the child care tax plan,” said Sheila Marcelo, the founder of www.care.com.

Earlier this month, the House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady said there had been “preliminary and very productive discussions” about tax deductions for the costs of child care, according to Vanity Fair.

However, at the time, Brady said those conversations were still a little premature, as there were a lot more things to discuss pertaining to the matter and that the committee was still “exploring a number of options.”

Ivanka Trump has been on the record saying that she plans to be a strong advocate for families and women during her father’s presidency. She worked in that area in the business world, as women empowerment was a strong piece to her fashion company that she stepped down from last month when her father was sworn into office.

She has a book coming out in May entitled, “Women Who Work.”

Under the “first daughter’s” proposed child-care plan, people making less than $250,000 a year and couples making less than $500,000 annually would be eligible for this tax deduction in child-care expenses, according to Slate.
