British actress and model Jameela Jamil slammed Khloé Kardashian for promoting a diet product in a sponsored post to Instagram Thursday.
The post, sponsored by Flat Tummy Co., is a selfie of Kardashian bearing her toned midriff with the diet product strategically positioned at the forefront of the shot.
"Loving how my tummy looks right now you guys!" Kardashian wrote. "I brought @flattummyco’s meal replacement shakes into my routine about 2 weeks ago, and the progress is undeniable." She urged followers to purchase the product.
Jamil, who is a fierce body positive activist, was not impressed with the post. "The Good Place" star called out Kardashian in the comments section of her post.
"If you're too irresponsible to: a) own up to the fact that you have a personal trainer, nutritionist, probable chef, and a surgeon to achieve your aesthetic, rather than this laxative product… And b) tell them the side effects of this NON-FDA approved product, that most doctors are saying aren't healthy," Jamil wrote. "Side effects such as: Possible Flat Tummy Tea side effects are cramping, stomach pains, diarrhea and dehydration… Then I guess I have to."
Jamil did not leave it there. Taking another swipe at celebrities, she shared a photo of herself with the caption; "Waiting for someone to sell a weight-loss product to teenagers like..."
Jamil has been vocal about celebrities such as Kardashian pushing diet products on social media and has launched a petition to calling for an end to the trend.
The model and actress has been driving the body positive movement with "I Weigh," a campaign that fights shame "by cultures of toxic beauty standards." Through the website, Jamil's petition has drawn almost 200,000 signatures, Fox News noted.
The aim is to convince major social media platforms to ultimately ban celebrities and influencers from promoting dietary products.
