James has hidden his receding hairline under headbands and gotten static from fans for years, The Daily Beast noted, adding that he "finally listened to the critiques."

Sports Illustrated's Dan Gartland also praised the change, writing "This move was definitely a long time coming. LeBron has been clinging desperately to his last few strands of hair for years now."

James admitted he was going bald in a recent interview after the Cavaliers' 135-102 win over the Boston Celtics to win the Eastern Conference Championship.

James, who has been compared to Michael Jordan, told reporters he did "pretty much everything that MJ did when I was a kid. … I didn't go bald like Mike, but I'm getting there," Bleacher Report noted.

Twitter users had plenty to say about the new 'do.
