Selena Gomez has hit the 100 million-user mark on Instagram, making the singer the most followed person on the website, beating out such social media darlings as Kim Kardashian and Beyonce.
Gomez, 24, announced last month that she was ending her world tour early because she was suffering with lupus-related panic attacks and depression, noted the Daily Mail. The singer said in 2015 that she had been undergone chemotherapy to treat the chronic disease, in which the body's immune system attacks healthy tissue.
The inactivity has not stopped her from gaining new fans, allowing her to become the first person to top the 100 million-follower mark on Instagram, noted Billboard.
Gomez's fans recently started the hashtag #SelenaBreakTheInternet to help her account get enough momentum to top the 100 million mark. The effort has allowed the singer to build a healthy Instagram follower lead over Taylor Swift (91.4 million), Beyonce (85.3 million), Ariana Grande (85 million) and Kim Kardashian West (83.6 million), Billboard reported.
Gomez has not posted a photo on Instagram since last month, a picture from her now canceled Revival Tour.
