Sylvia Browne, the renowned psychic medium who frequently appeared on TV talk shows and published at least 45 books in her lifetime, died Wednesday morning at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, Calif. She was 77. The cause of death was not reported.
Browne was a frequent guest of both former talk show hosts Montel Williams and Larry King, where she claimed to have the ability to communicate with the dead and be able to see into the future,
CNN reported.

"I, like so many of you, lost a friend today," Williams said in a posting
on Browne's website. "But, as has been for the last 20 years, she'll always remain a part of me."
Once asked by King how she developed her clairvoyance, Browne responded, "I don't know how I do it. I've done it all my life."
Born Sylvia Celeste Shoemaker in Kansas City, MO., Browne claimed to have realized her psychic abilities as a child.
Browne was known for her easy going, down-to-earth personality, and would often engage individuals at her events or in television studio audiences, providing advice and at times claiming to give the person the opportunity to communicate with their deceased loved ones through her.
Having relocated to California in 1964, Browne began by counseling individuals on a one-to-one basis.
In 1974, she founded The Nirvana Foundation for Psychic Research, a nonprofit aimed at researching the paranormal, through which she helped "thousands of people gain control of their lives, live more happily, understand the meaning of life and to find God in their unique way," according to her website.
Browne also launched the Sylvia Browne Hypnosis Training Center in which she taught her hypnosis methods to aspiring psychics.
Despite her popularity, Browne had been proven wrong in the past.
During a 2004 "Montel William's Show" episode, Browne told the mother of then-missing Amanda Berry that she would never see her daughter again in this lifetime. Berry, along with Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus, were found in a Cleveland basement this past May after having been kept captive by Ariel Castro for more than a decade.
Browne responded to the rescue of Berry by writing on her website, "If ever there was a time to be grateful and relieved for being mistaken, this is that time. Only God is right all the time."

Browne's final Facebook message before she died was posted on Oct. 27, writing: "My one prayer every morning that has carried me through my life is, 'Hi God, it's me again.' It doesn't matter how you pray. It can be just simply talking to God. Remember, God knows your heart and soul."
