'Wonder Woman 2' Release Date Set

Warner Bros. announced Tuesday that “Wonder Woman 2” would release on Dec. 13, 2019.

Gal Gadot will return to reprise her role as Diana Prince, and “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins is in talks to direct the sequel, but has not officially been brought on board yet.

The first installment featuring the female superhero has made more than $389 million in the U.S. so far, surpassing Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” last weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Gadot will also appear as Wonder Woman in November’s “Justice League” along with Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Flash, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg, THR reported.

Other DC movies in the works include “Aquaman,” with a December 2018 release, and several named films without release dates (“Shazam!” “Flashpoint,” “The Batman,” and Suicide Squad 2” and others).

The announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con where Gadot, 32, made an appearance, US Weekly reported. “Wonder Woman” was widely praised by critics for its female empowerment messaging and for being the first superhero film with a female director.

Gadot said she listened to Beyonce while she waited to audition for the role, and it helped her get into character and calm her anxiety. “I just started to dance, and I let my anxiety go,” she said to Us. “Thank you, Beyonce!”

Although Jenkins has not been officially confirmed as director for “WW2,” she spoke about it, saying that it would take place in America and that she thinks it's the right time, the Daily Mail reported.
