Gun Ranges in Delaware: 5 Spots for Firearms and Pistol Practice

Delaware is a small state with relatively few gun range options for shooting enthusiasts.

Here are five spots for firearms and pistol practice in Delaware:

1. JD Defense Guns & Training 
Georgetown, Delaware
JD Defense Guns & Training offers a public gun range for pistol and rifle shooting. The pistol target distances are up to 25 yards. Rifle distance extends to 130 yards. The range is staffed and offers classes and personal instruction.

"This is a great place to shoot or get training. John and his staff are knowledgeable and helpful," wrote a Yelp reviewer.

2. Owens Station 
Greenwood, Delaware
Owens Station sporting clay range offers a variety of clay and trap shooting events. They also offers hunting, a clubhouse, bunkhouse and overnight kennels for hunting dogs. Owens Station offers five courses over 80 acres.

"My family loves going out for a day on the shooting range," wrote a Google reviewer.

3. Shooters Choice 
Dover, Delaware
Shooters giving online reviews to Shooters Choice in Dover, Delaware are not making it their first choice. Complaints include high prices at the store. The indoor range offers two, five position gun ranges for pistols, shotguns and rifles. They also allow muzzleloaders. They have a 50 foot target distance. Rental guns are available.

4. Delaware State Pistol Club 
New Castle, Delaware
The Delaware State Pistol Club has both and indoor and outdoor range. Only pistol calibers lower than 1500fps are allowed at the indoor range. They offer action pistol events and gun safety classes. Several leagues use this facility.

"A great place for pistol shooting, 10 lanes, 25 yards. Something for everyone," wrote a reviewer on Google. 

5. Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center
New Castle, Delaware
This center is run by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. It offers trap and skeet shooting, 5 stand and archery ranges alongside a pistol and rifle gun range. The gun range also allows black powder rifles and shotguns. Online reviewers generally say this is a fun and friendly public range.
