Words surrounding the false claims of Obamacare have come from all sides of the controversy. There were broken promises from President Barack Obama and warnings about the scandal that rocked the health care industry.

Here are 12 key quotes that explain the unraveling of the Affordable Care Act:

Vote Now: How Do You Rate Obama Compared to Other Presidents?

1. “The bottom line: Americans are working less and in more unproductive ways.”
Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., former Maryland governor and congressman, wrote regarding employers cutting jobs, switching to part-time jobs, or increasing employee contributions to health plans as a result of Obamacare

2. “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits — either now or in the future.”
President Barack Obama told Congress in 2009. Less than four years later, the Government Accountability Office announced Obamacare could increase the federal deficit by $6.2 trillion over the next 75 years.

3. “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor.”
Obama. It's been reported that doctors began leaving the profession and people lost their doctors because of changes in their plans.

4. “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan.”
Obama. It's been reported that some policyholders saw their policies canceled or their costs increase so much that they couldn’t keep their plans.

5. “It’s like showing up at the airline counter and being told, ‘You have no choice, $300 please. You’re getting a first-class ticket, why are you complaining?’”

Jonathan Gruber, an architect of the Affordable Care Act, on the passage of Obamacare.

7. “We just tax the insurance companies, they pass on higher prices that offsets the tax break we get, it ends up being the same thing.”
Gruber, pointing out “the lack of economic understanding of the American voter.”

Obama claimed in September 2008. However, taxes on employers with health care plans add to the taxes of the middle class.
