Colorado has 271 incorporated areas, including 196 towns, 73 cities, and two consolidated city and county governments. It is not surprising to find Denver at the top of the list when it comes to the Centennial State’s biggest cities by population.

According to a survey of 2,600 adults done by the Pew Research Center, many people would like to move to the Mile High city. Those surveyed were given a list of the 30 largest cities in the country and most picked Denver for a variety of reasons including sports, weather, and overall economy.

The following is a list of the 10 biggest cities in Colorado, based on the 2013 census projections for population growth.
1. Denver in Denver County was incorporated on Dec. 3, 1859. The estimated population in 2013 was 649,495.

2. Colorado Springs in El Paso County was incorporated on June 19, 1886. The estimated population in 2013 was 439,886.

3. Aurora in Arapahoe County was incorporated on May 5, 1903. The estimated population in 2013 was 345,803.

4. Fort Collins in Larimer County was incorporated on Feb. 12, 1883. The estimated population in 2013 was 152,061.

5. Lakewood in Jefferson County was incorporated on June 24, 1969. The estimated population in 2013 was 142,980.

6. Thornton in Adams and Weld Counties was incorporated on June 12, 1956. The estimated population in 2013 was 127,359.

7. Arvada in Jefferson County was incorporated on Aug. 24, 1904. The estimated population in 2013 was 111,707.

8. Westminster in Adams County was incorporated on May 24, 1911. The estimated population in 2013 was 110,945.

9. Pueblo in Pueblo County was incorporated on Nov. 15, 1885. The estimated population in 2013 was 108,249.

10. Centennial in Araphoe County was incorporated on Feb. 7, 2001. The estimated population in 2013 was 106,114.
