Eczema is extreme sensitivity of the skin toward certain triggers that make it turn red. Here are the top five symptoms of eczema:
1. Itchy skin.
2. Redness. Generally, when a patient suffers from eczema, they show patches of red skin over hands, neck, back, knees, or elbows.
3. Dryness. Dryness of the skin is caused by sensitivity to certain environmental factors such as pollen, pollutants, and irritants like detergents, nickel, food allergies, and perfumes.
4. Inflammation. A reddish patch of skin around the cheek, foot, elbow, and neck may be caused by inflammation or boils. In extreme or severe cases of eczema, boils fill with mucus.
5. Certain symptoms of eczema are specific to the particular type of eczema. For instance, symptoms of seborrheic eczema include scaly and yellowish oily patches of skin over the affected areas such as the scalp and face.
