Whether you are shooting handguns or rifles, safety should be the No. 1 priority for all girls with guns.
Here are a few accessories for safety and comfort for rifle shooters:

1. Ear protection. You can either use the foam ones that insert in the ear canal, or the kind that fit snugly over the ear. The foam insertable ones run about a dollar a pair and can be reused a couple times before they need to be replaced. The earmuff-type protection costs from $25 to $40 a pair, depending on the brand.
Many girls with guns even use a combination of both for added protection. The over-the-ear style ear protection comes in either standard or electronic. The electronic ones allow you to hear normal conversation, while at the same time blocking out the sound of gunfire. They cost from $50 up, based on the features.
2. Eye protection. For indoor shooting, a simple pair of clear shooting glasses is all you need. For outdoor shooting, you can purchase a tinted pair that block UV rays, yet are not so dark that you can’t see to shoot well.
3. Recoil protection pad. If you are shooting a traditional shotgun, you may want to get a recoil protection pad. It either snaps or slips onto the butt of the rifle to offer a softer padding that absorbs much of the recoil. Many brands, such as
Limb Saver, offer customizable recoil pads that you can grind yourself to meet your exact needs.
4. Shooting rest or bipod. This gives girls with guns a stable, steady platform on which to rest the barrel of the rifle, which is important for accuracy as well as for zeroing the sights on your gun.
