Girls With Guns: How to Run/Jog With a Gun

By    |   Tuesday, 31 March 2015 04:04 PM EDT

When girls with guns choose to carry, a holster is an absolute necessity. A good holster not only keeps the trigger guard of the firearm completely covered, but it keeps the gun safe and snug so that it cannot easily be removed from the holster with added motion. This is even more important if you will be running or jogging.

Two of the best holsters for those that lead an active lifestyle are the Bellyband which is worn like a flexible belt around your abdomen, and Thunderwear, which is a pouch that is worn inside your pants, like an apron.

Both keep your firearm safe, secure and snug to your body, creating minimal printing so that your firearm remains concealed while you are running.

Remaining concealed, if this is legal in your state, is also important. It is understandable that while running or jogging, you may feel tempted to "check" to see if your firearm is still where it is supposed to be, especially with all the active movement, however, a good holster will keep your firearm firmly in place. The point of concealing is to keep others from knowing that you are armed.

When you continually touch to "check" to see if your firearm is still in place, you invariably alert others to the fact that you have a gun. If concealed carry is not legal in your state, you still need to refrain from touching your firearm, as this could be misinterpreted by the uninformed as attempting to brandish.

If you are running or jogging with earbuds, it is never advisable to have them in both ears. You need to be able to hear what is going on in your surroundings, particularly if you are running alone in a secluded area.
