1. Mount Carmel is often referred to as the “evergreen mountain” and is considered one of Israel’s most beautiful sights. With its proximity to the sea, Mount Carmel’s lush groves and 670 plant species make it an ideal location for family hiking. The mountain is also known for its varying rock and fossil formations.
2. The World Center of the Bahai Faith contributes to Haifa’s reputation for tolerance. The center is located on the slope of Mount Carmel and is famous for its magnificent gardens, including the kilometer-long Hanging Gardens. The center is home to a gold-domed Shrine of the Bab, which is burial place of the Bahai Faith’s founder.
3. The German Colony was founded in the 19th century by German Templars who came to establish a Christian community in the Holy Land and is located at the foot of the Bahai Gardens. The colony features well-preserved, quaint, charming stone houses, some with names of original residents etched on them.
