How to Prevent Fibromyalgia

Friday, 10 June 2011 04:03 PM EDT

The latest fibromyalgia information indicates that about 5 percent of the world population suffers from fibromyalgia. There is still no clear-cut understanding of the causes of fibromyalgia. Since stress is believed to be one of the main causes, managing it works very well in controlling the condition.

Methods to reduce stress include meditation, listening to soft music, or doing deep breathing exercises. Practicing yoga is also good for fibromyalgia or fybromyalgia prevention. This can relax the mind and decrease sensitivity to pain.

Fibromyalgia and exercise are closely related. Moderate exercises are always good to increase muscle strength, increase circulation, and promote sound sleep. Exercises produce natural pain killers, that is, endorphins in the body. Massage with simple oils also brings a soothing effect and prevents fibromyalgia flare-ups.

Other factors like eating a healthy diet, maintaining an ideal weight, and getting adequate sleep and rest are equally helpful. Elimination of processed foods containing artificial colors and preservative is also helpful in fibromyalgia prevention. Refined sugars must also be curtailed from diet for fibromyalgia prevention. One must include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, and nuts in diet to prevent fibromyalgia. It is important to refrain from using tobacco and alcohol to prevent fibromyalgia.
