Rapaflo for Prostate: 8 Reviews From Consumers

By    |   Tuesday, 07 June 2016 06:06 PM EDT

Rapaflo is a brand name for silodosin. Reviews of the drug focus on side effects and its ability to relieve urinary symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate, known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. Like other medications for BPH, Rapaflo relaxes muscles in the prostate and bladder.

These eight reviews show the experiences of some men who have used Rapaflo.

1. “Immediate relief. Seems to be very long acting,” one review said on Drugs.com.

2. However, another Rapaflo user on the same website says, “It reduces urination frequency but has a very negative effect on my sex life. I’m going to have to stop using it.”

3. A 78-year-old man at Everyday Health reports that he was getting up to urinate two to four times a night with another drug. After five weeks on Rapaflo, he was “getting up once a night or not at all.”

4. “Urinary symptoms somewhat improved after several days,” a 51-year-old user says. “No erectile problems or lack of libido as reported by some reviews.” He adds, “Dry orgasm was the most significant side effect, but truthfully, not very bothersome to me.”

5. A reviewer at WebMD complained, “No change for the frequency of urination. Stuffy nose, restricts breathing. Minor diarrhea.” He stopped using it on his doctor’s recommendation after one month.

6. Another negative review on notes, “The first two weeks were good; however, suddenly I was not getting the same effect. I am getting up two to three times a night and I now have very little pressure behind my stream.”

7. A man, who reports on his inability to ejaculate as a side effect, says on Ask a Patient that the drug has improved his urinary symptoms: “Works great so far. I can deal with the one side effect I am experiencing.”

8. Another reviewer comments he plans to take Rapaflo every other day to avoid side effects. “Very tired, but getting a little better. Sore throat went away after 3 days. Stuffy nose much better after 10 days. Retrograde ejaculation is weird, but not intolerable.”
