Republican Gov. Susana Martinez prefers to stay out of the national spotlight, instead focusing her energy on her home state of New Mexico.

As much as she denies her interest in seeking any other political post, however, Martinez’s name continues to be mentioned as a GOP presidential hopeful in 2016.

Both New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush traveled to New Mexico in fall 2014 to stump for Martinez during her bid for re-election, causing further speculation that Martinez is looking beyond Santa Fe.
