Maye Musk, the mother of tech mogul Elon Musk, is calling for her son to sue CNN over a panel discussion about a hand gesture Musk made at an inauguration event for President Donald Trump.

"I have been receiving so much hatred because of the @CNN panel with [Washington Post columnist Catherine Rampell] @crampell yelling about Nazi salutes," Maye Musk said. "@elonmusk, please sue them. Thank you @ScottJenningsKY for trying to intervene with the truth.

On Monday, Jennings and Rampell got into a debate over the hand gesture Musk made. Upon thanking the crowd for returning Trump to the White House, Musk tapped the left side of his chest with his right hand and then extended his arm with his palm open, repeating the gesture for the crowd seated behind him.

Jennings defended Musk, calling the assertion he did a Nazi salute an "absolute ridiculous thing to say."

Rampell dared Jennings to do the salute on TV, while Jennings dared the panelists to call Republicans Nazis.

Musk has brushed off the criticism on X, formerly known as Twitter, which he owns.

"The radical leftist are really upset that they had to take time out of their busy praising Hamas to call me a Nazi," Musk wrote.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Anti-Defamation League have defended Musk, with Netanyahu saying he was being falsely smeared.

"Elon is a great friend of Israel. He visited Israel after the October 7 massacre in which Hamas terrorists committed the worst atrocity against the Jewish people since the Holocaust," Netanyahu posted on X.

The Anti-Defamation League called Musk's salute an "awkward gesture."

"In this moment, all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath," the Anti-Defamation League said. "This is a new beginning. Let's hope for healing and work toward unity in the months and years ahead."
