J.K. Rowling on Brexit Vote: I've Never 'Wanted Magic More'

J.K. Rowling conjured up her fantastical world of Harry Potter on Friday as she reacted in shock to Britain's decision to leave the European Union.

The bestselling author took to Twitter:


Rowling also said she believes that Scotland will now push for another vote to separate itself from the United Kingdom.


The author of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and six Potter sequels had long been a supporter of her country remaining in the European Union, rejecting the arguments of those who cited EU immigration regulations costing British workers jobs and higher wages among the reasons for leaving.

"As this country has entered what will come to be seen as one of the most divisive and bitter political campaigns ever waged within its borders, I've thought a lot about the rules for creating villains," Rowling said earlier this month.

"They are appealing to us through our universal need to make sense of the world by storytelling and that they have not been afraid to conjure monsters calculated to stir up our deepest fears."
