Ameritrade Founder Joe Ricketts to Give Trump PAC at Least $1 Million

TD Ameritrade founder J. Joe Ricketts plans to donate at least $1 million to a super PAC supporting Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, according to The Washington Post.

The Ricketts family supported Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's failed bid to win the Republican nomination, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Brian Baker, a political strategist for the Ricketts, said the family made the decision to support Trump in order to oppose Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

"The Ricketts decided they could not sit back and let Hillary Clinton become the next president of the United States. Even though the Ricketts supported other candidates during the primary, they believe it is time to unite behind the nominees… this is about helping Republicans win in the fall," Baker told the Journal.

Ricketts' intention to support Trump arrives around the same time that Las Vegas Sands casino owner Sheldon Adelson is committing $45 million in support of the Republican candidate.

Ricketts and his wife opposed Trump during the Republican primaries, giving the anti-Trump super PAC, Our Principles, a total of $5.5 million. Trump threatened in a tweet to expose secrets about their family:
