The race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump has narrowed to 8 points in the battleground state of Virginia, after she held a 12-point lead over him just a month ago, and the pair are in a virtual tie in Colorado, according to a new CBS Battleground Tracker Poll.
According to the poll, released Sunday:
In Virginia:
- Clinton: 45 percent;
- Trump: 37 percent;
In Colorado:
- Clinton: 40 percent;
- Trump: 39 percent;
Meanwhile, the voters in Colorado gave Clinton and Trump both low marks in several categories;
- 59 percent called Clinton scary;
- 62 percent said Trump is scary;
- 59 percent: Clinton is risky;
- 74 percent: Trump is risky;
However, 80 percent of Colorado's Democrats called Clinton "competent" and "responsible," but just 40 percent found her exciting. Trump also did well with Republicans, with 72 percent of voters calling him "inspiring."
The polls carried margins of error of 3.3 percentage points among Virginia voters and 4.4 points in Colorado.
