The Force is with Sen. Ted Cruz thanks to a wild video satire that portrays the Republican presidential candidate as a fearless Jedi warrior from "Star Wars."
The three-minute video, which has gone viral on YouTube, is called:
"The Constitution Strikes Back: The Cruzade" and promotes the Texas lawmaker as an unstoppable political hero out to unite the fractured Republican Party and save the U.S. Constitution.
It was produced by Los Angeles documentary filmmaker Joel Gilbert, who has been critical of the policies of President Barack Obama and the Democrats.
Gilbert's video begins with President Obama's warning to Republicans that he won't be afraid to use his executive powers to enact laws he believes have been stalled in the GOP-controlled Congress.
"I've got a pen and I've got a phone," Obama is heard saying over a video of the vast, star-filled universe. "I can use that pen to sign executive orders."
Then a moving crawl that looks just like the one in the No. 1 box-office smash, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," tears into Democrats, announcing:
"It is a dark time for the Republic. A deceptive and radical donkey has seized the capital and shredded the Constitution. A powerful rebel warrior must arise to unite the elephants and save the nation . . . "
Next, in an animated segment, Cruz is shown riding on a Republican elephant through a Texas oil field. A copy of the Constitution comes flying through the air and he catches it.
"Oh, yeah!" exclaims Cruz, who then holds the document like a sword and watches as it turns into a lightsaber.
As he marches across America, followed by a growing army of pachyderms, "Imagine millions of courageous conservatives all across America rising up together to say, it is the time to reclaim the Constitution of the United States . . .
"We stand together for liberty. Give me liberty or give me death. We will restore that shining city on a hill which is the United States of America."
Reaching Capitol Hill, Cruz and his elephants confront Obama, who is riding a donkey and being protected by a group of snarling rhinos, a symbol of left-leaning GOP lawmakers who are called "Republicans in Name Only."
One of the Rhinos charges Cruz, only to be felled by the senator's elephant which slams his trunk into the wounded beast's gut.
Cruz then does a Kung-Fu flip off his elephant and, lightsaber in hand, walks towards Obama as the president's donkey posse flees in fear.
"President Obama, follow the law," Cruz tells the commander in chief.
"Never . . . Let's get out of here," Obama answers, as he throws his pen and phone on the ground and runs away.
Cruz raises his lightsaber in victory, proclaiming, "May the Constitution be with you."
He adds: "Just like in 'Star Wars' movies, the empire will strike back. But at the end of the day, the rebel alliance, the people will prevail."
Viewers are then urged to visit Cruz's website to support his bid for the 2016 presidential nomination.
