Newsmax readers overwhelmingly handed the Thursday GOP presidential debate to Donald Trump, and Trump cited the poll in his appearance Sunday on "Meet the Press."
"I won every poll on debates," Trump told host Chuck Todd. "Time magazine, Drudge, Newsmax, every poll. And people thought I won the debate easily."
All three polls showed Trump winning the debate handily.
Trump cited the
Newsmax poll after being asked about his criticism of debate moderator Megyn Kelly. Trump said social media has been on his side in that debate, saying Kelly was unfair in her questioning.
Kelly asked Trump about his past use of Twitter to insult women over their looks. Trump said he had only done that with his longtime Twitter rival Rosie O'Donnell.
In a CNN interview on Friday, Trump said Kelly was angered by his response and blood was "coming out of her eyes, blood was coming out of her wherever."
He insisted, though, that he was referring to her nose, not to a feminine issue as his critics claim.
The comments caused Trump to be disinvited to a RedState.org event on Saturday, and Trump also cited the Newsmax poll
in a statement criticizing organizer Erick Erickson.
