Former President George W. Bush isn't planning to endorse a GOP presidential candidate,
Politico reports.
According to an unnamed aide, the 43rd president has no interest in backing a candidate now that his brother, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, has dropped out of the primary race.
"While I would never rule anything out, he definitely doesn’t have any plans to make an endorsement," the aide tells Politico. "He and Mrs. Bush voted early in Texas for Jeb. Now, like a lot of voters, they are watching to see who can unite the party, represent conservative values and serve as president of all the people."
The decision not to throw his weight behind any single candidate comes a week after 2012 GOP nominee
Mitt Romney – who attacked front-running contender Donald Trump – also declined to endorse any single Trump opponent.
Neil Bush, Jeb and George's younger brother, endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and joined his national finance team, Politico reports.
