GOP presidential contender Sen. Ted Cruz's wife coolly dismissed Donald Trump's tweeted threat that he'd "spill the beans" on her, saying most of the social media posts from the front-runner "have no basis in reality."
On the stump for her husband in Wisconsin on Wednesday, Heidi Cruz said "we are not worried in the least" about the tweeted taunt.
"You know, as I said, you probably know by now that most of the things that Donald Trump says have no basis in reality," she told reporters. "So we are not worried in the least, we are focused on our campaign, and we are going to continue to do that."
Pressed about her reaction to the tweet, which referred to an
anti-Trump super PAC's image of Trump's then-girlfriend Melania posing nude for British GQ in 2000, she added: "I have the same message to this country and to all of the candidates I've met from day one, which is Ted Cruz is the right person to be the president of this country."
According to Politico, Trump on Tuesday night initially tweeted, and then deleted: "Wow @SenTedCruz, that is some low level ad you did using a picture of Melania in a G.Q. shoot. Be careful or I will spill the beans on your wife" before posting the revised taunt.
Cruz responded that the picture was not from the Cruz campaign and that "if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought."
