Unable to score a victory in any of the early Super Tuesday voting states, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is now counting on a home-field advantage in an increasingly uphill battle to take down GOP front-runner Donald Trump.
"Florida, I know you’re ready," Rubio told supporters at Miami’s Tropical Park,
the Miami Herald reports.
"The pundits say we’re underdogs. I’ll accept that. We’ve all been underdogs. This is a community of underdogs. This is a state of underdogs. This is a country of underdogs. But we will win. And when we do — and when we do, we will do what needs to be done."
"Two weeks from now, right here in Florida, we are going to send a message loud and clear," he vowed. "We are going to send a message that the party of Lincoln and Reagan, and the presidency of the United States, will never be held by a con artist."
The Herald reports Rubio's team had been preparing for a bad night – and were already turning their attention on their home state.
"In Florida, we know con artists," Rubio spokesman Alex Burgos said, the Herald reports. "In Florida, you’ve either been a victim of a con artist, or you know someone who’s been a victim of a con artist."
