Md. Gov. Moore: I'll Work With Trump

By    |   Tuesday, 14 January 2025 10:18 PM EST

Maryland Democrat Gov. Wes Moore signaled Tuesday that he was willing to move out of lockstep with the Democrat establishment and work with President-elect Donald Trump.

"I'm not the leader of the resistance," Moore told CNN's Jake Tapper. "I'm the governor of Maryland. My job is to make sure that the 6.5 million people who call the state of Maryland home are going to be supported, protected, that their freedoms and their rights are going to be honored, and also their hopes and their dreams and their aspirations are going to be invested in and supported."

Moore's signal that he's willing to work with the Trump administration stands in stark contrast to California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom, who has said, according to The Hill, that Trump would withhold disaster aid amid the fires in his state.
