Jon Stewart: Media Focuses on Sensationalism

Sunday, 19 June 2011 03:18 PM EDT

Comedian Jon Stewart says the mainstream media isn't biased in favor of liberals -- it's just lazy and focused on sensationalism, Jon Stewart, MediaPolitico reports.

The "Daily Show" host appeared on "Fox News Sunday" and said the reason The New York Times and Washington Post asked readers to help sift through Sarah Palin's email trove from her time as governor and not to do the same thing with the Obamacare legislation was simple.

"I think their bias is towards sensationalism and laziness. I wouldn't say its towards a liberal agenda. It's light fluff so it's absolutely within the wheelhouse.

"If your suggestion is that they're restlessly partisan, then why haven't they gone and backed away from [Rep. Anthony] Weiner?"
