Michael Savage: I'm Taking Hannity's Radio Time Slot

Conservative talk show host Michael Savage says he is taking over Sean Hannity's time slot later this year on Cumulus radio stations across the country.

Savage made the announcement Thursday evening during his program, "Savage Nation," which airs on Cumulus stations. He predicted that Rush Limbaugh's program likely will remain on Cumulus, despite earlier reports that he would be dropped.

"I predict, right here, right now, that I, Michael Savage, and the 'Savage Nation' is going to take over 'The Sean Hannity Show' time slot by the end of the year," Savage told listeners. "I am the heir apparent to afternoon drive on the East Coast and around America on Cumulus stations, which have the most powerful stations in the radio world."

In what he called the "changing of the guard," Savage said the "sun has set" on Hannity's "act."

"He's probably a nice guy, but his time has come and his time has gone," said Savage, who in the past has referred to Hannity as a "fake conservative."

Hannity has indicated he intends to leave Cumulus and its flagship New York radio station WABC when the contract for his nationally syndicated radio talk show expires at the end of the year.

If that happens, multiple industry sources speculate that Hannity's show would be picked up by cross-town rival WOR, a New York talk station owned by Clear Channel, which already syndicates his show to more than 500 stations through its Premier Networks division.

According to Politico
, sources familiar with negotiations between Hannity and Cumulus said they likely will end their affiliation but that Limbaugh is expected to renew his contract with the network. A Cumulus spokesperson, however, said the company was "not in a position to comment about negotiations with talent under contract."

Cumulus radio is the second-largest operator of radio stations in the United States. Limbaugh and Hannity are the top-two ranked talk-radio hosts in the country, respectively. Savage's talk show has been running 19 years.
