Ann Coulter Defends Pat Sajak Over Global Warming Rant

Thursday, 22 May 2014 11:05 AM EDT

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter has defended "Wheel of Fortune" host Pat Sajak for his tweet criticizing "global warming alarmists."

Coulter said on CNN that liberals are too aggressive over their stance on man-made climate change. She equated their reaction to people who are "climate change deniers" to the feelings of those who are angered by "Holocaust deniers."

"Half of the American people do not believe in the apocalyptic prediction," she said, while agreeing that Sajak is "very conservative."

She also attacked the left for being hypocrites by acting as though they are open minded on the one hand while turning into the politically correct thought police on the other, Mediaite reported.

In his tweet, Sajak said, "I now believe global warming alarmists are unpatriotic racists knowingly misleading for their own ends. Good night."

Sajak appeared to back off his comments, or imply that he was just joking, when he later tweeted, "Sometimes it's fun to poke a stick in a hornet's nest just to hear the buzzing."

But Coulter said, "I’m sure he doesn’t believe in global warming, as I don’t, as the majority of Americans don’t."

Coulter also took issue with the fact that rich white people such as Hollywood film star Leonardo DiCaprio can afford to go green while the poor and middle class "need energy to live," Mediaite added.
