The State Department denies reports from the Mideast that a leaked document proves the United States manipulated a United Nations Security Council vote condemning Israel, The Hill reports.
The document was first published by the Egyptian news outlet Al-Youm Al-Sabaa.
It purportedly shows Secretary of State John Kerry and National Security Adviser Susan Rice had met with the Palestinian delegation a week and a half before the Security Council vote, according to the website.
It is also said to show that the U.S. agreed it would not impose a veto on the resolution if its wording was balanced, The Israel newspaper Haaretz reported.
The U.S. abstained from the vote, which condemned Israel for settlements in the West Bank.
The Israeli newspaper said it was not possible to gauge the authenticity of the five-page Arabic document released by the Egyptian news outlet. According to Haaretz, it appeared to be a summary of the meeting.
"However, if it is authentic, it reinforces some of the claims that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's bureau has voiced against the White House over the past few days," Haaretz reports.
