French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen on Monday reportedly appeared to repeat word-for-word many passages of a former opponent's recent speech.

In a video side-by-side, Axios posted the speech of the nationalist Le Pen's with that of François Fillon's, from April 15.

"If it's not a copy and paste, it looks a lot like it," according to the French daily newspaper, Le Parisien, Axios reported.

The final round of the French election is this upcoming weekend, and Le Pen trails moderate Emmanuel Macron in the polls.

In his own speech Monday, Macron tried to paint Le Pen as an extremist, while she portrayed him as a clone of unpopular outgoing Socialist President François Hollande.

Reuters contributed to this report.
