Liberal billionaire George Soros actively worked to block immigration reform and the documentation of illegals, the Washington Examiner reports.
The Examiner cited leaked documents that surfaced an alliance between Soros' Open Society Foundations and civil liberty organizations intent on preventing immigration reform.
The OSF met with members of the ACLU, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Immigration Law Center and the Cato Institute in late 2009, according to the Examiner.
"Our goal was to ensure that the privacy rights community and the immigrant rights community, two groups that receive significant support from [Soros] but rarely interface with one another, share information and strategies to avoid the loss of privacy and risk to information security," the Examiner quoted a leaked memo.
Though the OSF and the civil liberty groups shared an interest in legalizing the nearly 11 million undocumented immigrants, they were staunchly opposed to subjecting them to a biometric database that tracked fingerprints, according to the Examiner.
