White House interim Communications Director Hope Hicks has retained a personal attorney after reports that Russia special counsel Robert Mueller has expressed interest in interviewing her, according to news reports.

Hicks, 28, who was named to her current post last month, has hired Robert Trout, founder of the Trout Cacheris & Janis firm in Washington, Politico reports.

The website cited "multiple sources familiar with the hire."

Trout has served at the Justice Department and is a former assistant U.S. attorney in Baltimore.

He holds degrees from Washington and Lee University and the University of Virginia Law School.

Hicks did not respond to "multiple requests for comment," Politico reports. Trout also did not respond to a request for comment.

The Washington Post reported Friday that Hicks was among six current or former Trump aides Mueller's team plans to interview in its probe on Russian meddling in last year's election.

Others include one of Hicks' predecessors, Sean Spicer, and former White House Chief of Staff Reince Preibus.
