Rep. Westmoreland: Clinton's 2009 Emails 'Another Delaying Tactic'

Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, a member of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, said this week's release of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's emails from 2009, instead of from 2012 when the attack on the Libyan embassy occurred, is just "another delaying tactic."

"It is very interesting the first batch of emails we get released is from March of 2009 to December of 2009," the Georgia Republican told Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program Wednesday.  "I don't understand why they didn't do March of 2012 to December of 2012, because that is certainly where our most interest is.

"They say they are having a problem producing the documents. Why couldn't they have set the sort to be the year 2012?"

On Tuesday, the State Department released roughly 3,000 pages of Clinton's correspondence from 2009, her first year as the nation's top diplomat. They were posted online as part of a court mandate that the agency release batches of Clinton's private correspondence from her time as secretary of state every 30 days starting June 30.

Republicans are accusing Clinton of using a private email account rather than the standard government address to avoid public scrutiny of her correspondence. As the controversy has continued, Clinton has seen ratings of her character and trustworthiness drop in polling.

The emails also show Clinton's relationship with close adviser Sidney Blumenthal, who forwarded emails to her from another source concerning the dangers at the Benghazi diplomatic post.

Meanwhile, Westmoreland said that it is not yet known if Clinton has turned over all of her emails, as "there were 60 new emails we got that we had not previously had. Fifteen of them had never been turned over by Mrs. Clinton to the State Department and the State Department was holding some of them.

"Why didn't we get those?"
