Franklin Graham: Dad's Mind is 'Razor Sharp'

By    |   Thursday, 07 November 2013 11:11 AM EST

The mind of 95-year-old evangelist Rev. Billy Graham is "razor sharp" as he gets set to deliver what may be his final message Thursday during his "My Hope America" crusade, son Franklin Graham said Thursday.

"He still is just as clear. If he was sitting here, he would tell you about all the aches and pains. But, at 95, his mind is razor sharp," his son told "Fox & Friends."

"My Hope America" will air Thursday evening, with a videotaped message by Billy Graham from his home in North Carolina. Franklin said his father "just didn't have the strength to stand" on a pulpit, though that was his desire.

"He was wanting to be able to stand one more time on a pulpit to preach. And he just didn't have the strength to stand there. So, I said, 'Daddy, why don't we think of another way to do this?'

"He was able to do this from his home, his log cabin in Montreat, N.C. He was able to deliver this wonderful message," he said.

"This film tonight is really my father's last call to this country, to come back to God and to put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. It's powerful," he said. "This message tonight is for everybody."

Billy Graham had pneumonia in 2011 and a lung infection last year, but, Franklin said, his father's health currently is "pretty good" and that he's "doing well."

"At 95, every morning you wake up and you wonder, 'Am I alive?' He's doing pretty good. We're just so happy that he's doing well," Franklin said.

Graham's message of a loving God has not changed over the past six decades he has been preaching, Franklin said.

"Ever since he started preaching, 65 years ago, 70 years ago, his message is the same," Franklin said. "That is that God loves us and God cares for us. And our problem is that we are separated from God by our sins. And his message tonight is on the cross, and the true meaning of the cross."

America is in a political, economic, international, and spiritual "mess," according to Franklin graham. The problem, he said, results from taking "God out of our government."

"We're in a political mess, economic mess. We are in an international mess. But the problem is, we are in a spiritual mess. Our country has turned its back on God. And we've taken God out of our government," Franklin said. "We've taken God out of Washington."
