President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday to belittle Sen. Bob Corker in the latest salvo between him and the retiring Tennessee Republican.
Trump used a slang spelling for "little" and reprised an insult he used against Sen. Marco Rubio during the Republican primary in Tuesday's tweet, which referred to an in-depth interview Corker did with The New York Times. Corker was quoted as saying Trump's rhetoric was sending the country hurtling toward World War III, among other things.
In his tweet, Trump also suggested that the Times set up Corker and made him "sound a fool" by recording the interview.
Corker, who has announced he will not run for re-election in 2018, was one of the first mainstream Republicans to back Trump in 2016, legitimizing Trump as a force in the GOP.
Now, he's fielding numerous calls for his resignation from Trump loyalists.
