White-collar boxing, a form of boxing where men and women in white-collar professions train like a professional boxer to fight at special events, was recently reported on first-hand by a journalist from The Telegraph.
The reporter, Ben Bloom, trained for five months before getting into the ring for a boxing match. White-collar boxing has boomed over the decade in the UK, according to The Telegraph, with the help of televised celebrity bouts.
Some gyms specifically offer white-collar boxing programs.
Bloom, who started training three times a week, quickly upped his regimen to daily after getting hooked to the workout.
"As my fight drew near, boxing took over my life," he wrote. "I upped my training from three times a week to daily; and I could think only of how I might beat Jason, my slightly shorter but stockier opponent, who I had grown friendly with over the previous months."
