Hillary Clinton, despite urging for her to run for New York Mayor to potentially stay in the mix for a 2020 presidential campaign, is done running for office and will focus on aiding children and families, a confidante said Sunday.

"I don't expect her to ever run for any elected office again," Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress, told CNN's "State of the Union."

Newsmax's John Gizzi broke news earlier this week Clinton was being urged to run against NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio maintaining a political cachet to run for president again, challenging President-elect Donald Trump after his first term.

"For what it's worth, Secretary Clinton, we'd love to see you run for mayor," the New York Post wrote in an editorial Friday.  "New York City needs you."

Tanden advised Clinton during her 2008 presidential primary bid against President Barack Obama, and told CNN the failed Democrat opposing Trump is now going to return to her work for families.

"I think she's going to figure out ways to help kids and families," Tanden said. "That's been what she's been focused on her whole life, and a lot of issues that are affecting them, over the next couple of years."
